Supports digestive health, aids digestion, promotes bile flow

Regular price £1999

Swedish Bitters Tincture is a traditional herbal tonic that has been used for centuries to support various aspects of digestive health, including aiding digestion, promoting bile flow, and relieving symptoms such as gas and bloating.

Swedish Bitters can kickstart a sluggish digestion which can affect the whole system. Bitter herbs are stimulants to the autonomic nervous system, so will help to ‘move food’ along the digestive tract. They stimulate the ‘bitter’ taste buds that then initiate the production of saliva, stomach and pancreatic juices, as well as aiding in the release of bile into the duodenum.

Bitters improve bowel function and can be helpful in cases of diarrhoea or constipation.

They can be used to combat skin problems via improving detoxification from the liver and are also an excellent hangover ‘cure’.

Ingredients: Wormwood, Gum myrrh, Manna ash, Senna leaves, Rhubarb root, Camphor, Angelica root, Carline thistle root, Theriak, Zedoary root, Beet alcohol.

Dosage

Start with just 20 drops (1ml) in water or juice with each meal, but increase to 60 drops (3ml) three times a day with meals as the taste buds acclimatise.

It is important to note that individual responses to herbal remedies can vary, and consulting a healthcare professional before using Swedish bitters or any herbal supplement is recommended, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications.

Caution: Pregnant & lactating women should consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use.

Ingredients Detailed

Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium): Wormwood is known for its bitter compounds, which stimulate digestive processes by promoting the secretion of digestive enzymes and gastric juices. Bitters like wormwood can help increase appetite, improve digestion, and alleviate gas and bloating.

Gum Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha): Myrrh has been used traditionally for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. In the context of Swedish bitters, gum myrrh may help soothe inflammation in the digestive tract and potentially aid in reducing digestive discomfort.

Manna Ash (Fraxinus ornus): Manna ash has been used as a mild laxative and digestive aid. It can help alleviate constipation and contribute to smoother bowel movements.

Senna Leaves (Senna alexandrina): Senna is a natural laxative that helps stimulate bowel movements and relieve constipation. It is included in the formula to support regularity and alleviate digestive discomfort caused by sluggish bowel movements.

Rhubarb Root (Rheum palmatum): Rhubarb root has laxative properties and is often used to relieve constipation. It also supports the liver’s detoxification processes and promotes healthy bile production.

Camphor: Camphor is included in small amounts for its aromatic and mild stimulant properties. It can aid in promoting digestion and providing relief from gas and bloating.

Angelica Ro: Angelica root has been used traditionally for its ot (Angelica archangelica)carminative and digestive properties. It may help reduce gas and bloating by soothing the digestive tract and promoting better digestion.

Carline Thistle Root (Carlina acaulis): Carline thistle root has been historically used to support liver function and stimulate bile production. It can contribute to improved bile flow, which aids in the digestion of fats.

Theriak (a complex herbal mixture): Theriak is a traditional herbal preparation that typically includes a combination of various herbs with digestive and tonic properties. It is often used to enhance the overall efficacy of the Swedish bitters formula.

Zedoary Root (Curcuma zedoaria): Zedoary root is known for its anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits. It can help soothe the digestive tract and alleviate discomfort. The combination of these ingredients in Swedish bitters aims to create a synergistic effect that supports various aspects of digestive health. The bitter compounds stimulate digestive processes, while the herbs with laxative properties promote regular bowel movements and alleviate constipation. Additionally, herbs like angelica root, carline thistle root, and zedoary root contribute to improved bile flow and better fat digestion.
